The Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Stamford has a history rich in progressive religious thinking. Its Sanctuary, known to many as Emerson Hall, has long provided a venue for multicultural programming and community service. This intimate, small-venue performance hall has twice hosted the Mayor’s Multicultural Jazz concert, provided space for Stamford‘s first bilingual bicultural music education program that has since grown into the widely respected INTEMPO organization, and collaborated with local artists and theater companies. It has recently hosted a piano concert by internationally known pianist and educator Cyrus van Hochstetter, a Connecticut Composers’ Chamber Ensemble concert, a visual arts exhibition, and a multi-media staged reading of letters written between Ukrainian soldiers and their loved ones.
